"Mommy this is my heart and it's full of love for you" said Peter as he cupped his hands together in a random moment at the park posing for pictures that he didn't want to take. Lately I have been sweating it, Pete's three now and it's like the boy has an internal mechanism that fuels an enchantment with weapons... What is it about boys and this obsession with guns, swords and bows and arrows? I tell you what no matter how hard Anna tries to keep up with Pete and his playtime fascinations, she never does quite engage in the gunfighting or dragon slaying. Maybe that will come, but for right now she's the retriever of arrows and bullets. Anyone who says there's no difference between boys and girls should come over to my house for a little visit. I guarantee you I offer an equal opportunity home when it comes to swordfights and shootouts. Anna's just not that interested and Peter, well, as far as he's concerned the whole day might as well be one long battle. I'll take this little warrior child though as long as he keeps that heart full of love. Afterall, this little boy someday will need to learn to fight for what's right and stand as a man among men. It's always been my prayer that Peter would learn to grow up just like his daddy, girding his warrior spirit in tender love. I guess it starts now in the shape of stick swords and acorn bullets.
